Disney Pictures president
Mark Zoradi announced yesterday at the
3DX Festival in Singapore that
Beauty and the Beast will be remastered into 3-D over a 10 month period by Walt Disney Pictures Animation for a
2010 release.Original Beauty and the Beast producer Don Hahn said the re-rendering of the film would take 9 months. He described the process as follows:
"By going back to the original animation files, which have been carefully archived for 17 years, and using the separate background, effects and character animation elements, we're able to come up with a fun and unique 3-D experience for existing and new fans of the film"
Beauty and the Beast is the 11th 3-D feature film that Disney is set to release in 2009-2010.
