Plot

Verdict
This special is absolutely ridiculous and  hilarious. Bolton's not afraid to make fun of himself or his hair. The premise is perfect, and the ensuing absurdity is fitting. With plenty of guest stars and Bolton reminding you why he became a phenomenon, you'll enjoy the jokes and the songs. Get it on with Michael Bolton.
Watch it.

Review

Developed by The Lonely Island and Comedy Bang! Bang!, the premise alone is ingenious. Santa needs seventy-five thousand new babies due to a toy surplus and only Michael Bolton can urge the world to procreate. When Santa first tells Bolton that the elves have been up to no good and made too many toys, Bolton pulls out a hand gun and asks, "So you want me to kill the elves?" This sets the tone for the special. It's absolutely absurd. I love it.

Bolton frequently sings and his voice is still amazing. He sings some of his classics as well as silly songs like an ode to Captain Jack Sparrow.
Andy Samberg cameos as Kenny G, upset that Bolton cut his hair. When Kenny G challenges him to a dual, Bolton pulls his gun again. The real Kenny G played Samberg's solos.

I was disappointed with A Very Murray Christmas Special (my review), but this special delivers. There's a Risky Business dance sequence and this directly references the Tim Allen movie The Santa Clause. In the end "Lord Boltron" saves the day.
