Thursday Movie Picks: Break into Song Scenes in Non-Musical Movies

It's Thursday and by now you should know that it means it's time for Thursday Movie Picks, the awesome weekly series hosted by Wandering Through the Shelves. This week we have to pick films with non-musicals with musical scenes. But I guess you already figured that out from the title. Anyway, here are my picks

(500) Days of Summer (2009)

Tom is an aspiring architect who earns his living as a greeting card writer. Summer is his boss's secretary. As they start knowing each other, Tom discovers that they have a lot in common and falls n love with her. The problem? She doesn't believe in true love. This film is so sweet and charming and has what's probably one of the most memorable musical scenes. Okay, Joseph doesn't sing, but who cares right?

Beetlejuice (1988)

Barbara and Adam die and they find themselves trapped as ghosts in their house. A new family arrives and they try to scare them, but without success. They call upon another ghost, Beetlejuice, for help, but the ghost has other plans. I haven't seen this in years, but I loved it. So hilarious. And that dinner scene is awesome.

Life of Brian (1979)

This is Monty Pythons take on Jesus life. Actually, it's the story of Brian from Nazareth, an unwilling prophet who wants to free his land. A beautiful satire of Christian religion and Hollywood's epic films, this one is absolutely hilarious and the singing out of nowhere is epic.
