HOLLYWOOD, CA (January 23, 2013) – Paramount Pictures, MGM and Skydance Productions, in association with Hasbro, will release a 4-minute preview of the highly anticipated “G.I. JOE: RETALIATION” in IMAX 3D, RealD 3D and digital 3D theaters in advance of Paramount and MGM’s “HANSEL AND GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS.”

This first-look at the film will play across the globe beginning January 24th and run throughout “HANSEL AND GRETEL: WITCH HUNTER’S” theatrical engagement.

Based on the best-selling HASBRO characters, this follow-up to the 2009 release of “G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA,” which grossed more than $300 million worldwide, is di Bonaventura production and is presented by Paramount Pictures, MGM and Skydance Productions, in association with Hasbro.

In this sequel, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra, they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence. The film stars D.J. Cotrona, Byung-hun Lee, Adrianne Palicki, Ray Park, Jonathan Pryce, Ray Stevenson, Elodie Yung, Channing Tatum with Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson. Directed by Jon M. “HANSEL AND GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS” stars Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton as Hansel and Gretel, who, after getting a taste for blood as children, become the ultimate vigilantes, hell bent on retribution. Now, unbeknownst to them, Hansel and Gretel have become the hunted, and must face an evil far greater than witches… their past. In addition to Renner and Arterton, the film stars Famke Janssen and Peter Stormare. Written and directed by Tommy Wirkola and produced by Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Kevin Messick and Beau Flynn.

TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D Rips Into Competition **AND** Check The New Red Band Trailer For HANSEL AND GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS

John Luessenhop's TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D buzzed the holdovers this Friday with an estimated $10.2 million take and heading for a low $20 million weekend - good enough for first place at the box office.

Meanwhile THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY is still hiking up the box office record list very successfully. It may surpass THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING ($23 m) for the best 4th weekend of the Middle-earth Tolkien franchises. JOURNEY is looking at a potential $16 million haul this weekend. Already the movie has gathered $252 million domestically and $513 million for a worldwide total of $765 million.

Here's the top 5 performers on Friday:
1. TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D: $10.2 million
2. DJANGO UNCHAINED: $6.2 million
3. THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY: $5.2 million

Here's the storyline for the movie:
Catching up with Hansel (Renner) and Gretel (Arterton) 15 years after the traumatic incident involving a gingerbread house, the siblings have evolved into vengeful bounty hunters dedicated to exterminating witches. Over the years, the siblings became expert hunters, famous for their proficiency at tracking and taking down their prey. Although still recovering from their ordeal, their work is relatively easy as for an unknown reason harmful spells and curses do not work well against them.

The Mayor of Augsburg recruits them to rid the town and nearby forests of an evil sorceress (Janssen) who is planning to sacrifice many local children at the witches’ gathering during the upcoming ‘Blood Moon’ night in two days time. To make things worse, the duo also has to deal with the brutal Sheriff Berringer (Stormare) who has taken power in Augsburg and conducts a very indiscriminate witch-hunt of his own.

Watch: New Red Band Trailer For HANSEL AND GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS

You know what? This movie is growing on me. I was a bit worried after the first trailer - it didn't seem like the suspension of disbelief would be there. Now it's looking more and more like humans vs. zombies (a very GOOD thing), only replace the zombies with witches. Very bloody. Amazing visual effects. And throw in 3D, Jeremy Renner and Famke Janssen and voila!

I haven't heard much about the 3D as of yet, but my eyes are on it and I'll have more soon.

We all know Jeremy Renner's career has exploded lately. He's everywhere and justifiably so - he's a great actor. But can he successfully headline HANSEL AND GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS to box office glory? Time will tell and in the meantime, here is the first indication of how the movie will look and feel.

Yes, this is part of the poster for the movie. The rest of it is just black with these words in the center.

I'm really not sure what to make of the trailer. At times it looks amazing and other times I am kinda put off. I am hoping Renner can pull it all together though as he brings a lot of believability to any production.
