1st My French Online Film Festival - Press News

Today Cineuropa published news about the fest and here are some excerpts from article; if you wish to read complete article, please go here.

The Unifrance agency, which promotes French cinema abroad, is breaking new ground internationally for it is organising the first edition of online fest MyFrenchFilmFestival from January 14-29. The aim is to introduce young audiences to new French films on their favourite territory: the Internet.

The selected films can be viewed via video-on-demand for a charge of €1.99 per feature outside France (where the price is aligned with national VoD sites) with the exception of Latin America and Russia where access will be free. PACS systems are also offered.

The films will be available in ten languages (German, English, Arabic, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese and Russian; there will also be a Korean version on the website of partner KT) and the website includes film trailers and interviews with the directors and actors.

Three prizes will be awarded at the end of the festival by Internet users, the international press jury and foreign bloggers’ jury. Finally, a game called French Film Epidemic will be organized on the festival’s Facebook page, giving people the chance to win a trip to New York and free film viewings.

I'm impatiently waiting for the site to be online and hope that soon I'm able to see how it looks and what's all about. But above excerpts tells price and the subtitles that will be available for the French films. Also interesting is the contest that includes winning FREE viewings and well, I don't mind winning a trip to NYC if I can use it when they have one of the many excellent film festivals.
