Starring: Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathawa , Jessica Chastain, John Lithgow,
Rated: PG-13
Plot:
A father must abandon his children to save the world. He is one of the astronauts that leaves Earth in search for a planet to replace Earth.
Review:
Interstellar is an amazing film. I would have watched this film again immediately after it ended if the theater had allowed. That feeling is an extreme rarity. Despite being three hours, it didn't feel long. The production value was great, the acting was solid, the score was impressive, and the robots are standout. It's going to be on Nolan's resume for years to come, though there are a few low spots.
It's a movie about self preservation and humankind's ability to invent and improvise in the darkest moments.
Watch it.
Hercules - If you can make it this far in the movie, you will feel like a captive too. |
Watch Hercules
Written by: Ryan Condal and Evan Spiliotopoulos (screenplay), Steve Moore (radical comic "Hercules")
Directed by: Brett Ratner
Starring: Dwayne Johnson, John Hurt, Ian McShane
Rated: PG-13
Plot:
Hercules is a sword for hire, with a merry band of followers that aid him in defeating a warlord.
Review:
It was disappointing. Dwayne Johnson is wasted in the role, as many of the actors were. It is incredibly uninspiring. The animation and music during the credits was pretty good. It had more character than the rest of the film.
Skip it.
Million Dollar Arm - A little long, but a solid ending. |
Watch Million Dollar Arm
Written by: Tom McCarthy
Directed by: Craig Gillespie
Starring: Jon Hamm, Aasif Mandvi, Alan Arkin, Lake Bell
Rated: PG
Plot:
JB Bernstein is a sports agent with no clients and no money. He develops a plan to turn two kids from India into baseball pitchers in less than a year.
Review:
It's a little too Disney, too feel good. Because of that, just scratches the surface, when it should focus on two kids out of their context. It's a little long, but the last quarter is solid, building partly on the foundations of the beginning.
It depends.
