New in Theaters for April

A lot of movies are premiering in April, but only a few of them interest me. This is why they might be worth watching... or avoiding.

WATCHING
The Circle (April 28, 2017)
A powerful tech company with a hidden agenda and it stars Tom Hanks, Emma Watson, and John Boyega? Yes!

Colossal (April 7, 2017)
Starring Anne Hathaway, a woman who discovers catastrophic events are somehow linked to her mental breakdown. The story is just crazy enough to get my attention.

The Lost City of Z (April 14, 2017)
Based on a true story where a British explorer gets lost in the Amazonian jungle while searching for a mysterious city.

Gifted (April 7, 2017)
Chris Evans is a father in a custody battle over his daughter. She's brilliant, but he wants his daughter to lead a normal life, his wife doesn't.

AVOIDING
Going in Style (April 7, 2017) This looks a lot like Last Vegas (2013). Three older guys on a crazy adventure. This time they're robbing a bank. Morgan Freeman is better than this!

The Fate of the Furious (April 14, 2017)
They're just rolling these things out every year. It revels in big stunts and while Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is always enjoyable, this series has gone beyond absurd. I guarantee it will be just like Furious 7 (2015), but with bigger stunts and explosion. The one bright spot, Charlize Theron.

Unforgettable (April 21, 2017)
How will this movie be anything but forgettable. Rosario Dawson plays a character determined to ruin her ex-husbands new wife played by Katherine Heigl.

The Promise (April 21, 2017)
A love triangle set during the Ottoman empire. The fact that it stars Christian Bale and Oscar Isaac can't overcome my concern for the story.
