While I love music, music-related films and TV series aren't really my thing, especially musicals, so yeah, I had quite a hard time picking series for this week's Thursday Movie Picks, the series hosted by Wandering Through the Shelves, as I've only seen one in its entirety that fit the theme — it's Hannah Montana, just in case you're wondering. I didn't want to skip the week so I went with those I watched some episodes either and there, started and never finished, and started and yet to finish.
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (2015- )
It follows Rebecca (Rachel Bloom), a Harvard-educated lawyer who works for a top law firm in New York City. The same day she's offered a partnership, she bumps into Josh (Vincent Rodriguez III), the guy she dated as a teenager at summer camp, who tells her he's moving back to California because he didn't make it in New York City and everyone is happy in his hometown. Rebecca, who still hasn't gotten over the crush, follows Josh to California, only to find out that he has a girlfriend (Gabrielle Ruiz). I've only seen five episodes of this as I've started it recently but I'm loving it so far. I feel like there are too many musical numbers though.
The Get Down (2016-17)
It's set in the 1970s in the Bronx and follows the rise of hip-hop and disco music through the eyes of a group of wild teenagers. I still don't get why Netflix released the season in two parts. Anyways, I like the first part but it kinda dragged at the end, if I'm not wrong, so I never gave part two a chance.
Glee (2009-2015)
It's about some teenagers joining a glee club and doing nothing but start singing and dancing completely out of the blue. And there was also a lot of romance and all that. I've only seen a few episodes on TV here and there when there was nothing better on, and I was not a fan. I shipped Santana and Brittany though, and kind of had a crush on Puck.
