Despite my aversion for babies, toddlers and all the likes of, there are people who love them and make them. But having a baby is not enough, these people still want to have a life. And for this reason, they hire nannies and babysitters to take care of their children while they are out having fun or working or whatever. Which is great, otherwise we wouldn't have this nannies and babysitters themed week for Wandering Through the Shelves's Thursday Movie Picks.
Without further ado, here are the only three picks fitting the theme that I have seen (I'm regretting writing this already as I'm sure other bloggers' picks will make me realise how wrong I was, and I many movies I've completely forgotten about).
Babysitting (2011)
On the day of his 30th birthday, Franck (Philippe Lacheau) is "asked" by his boss (Gérard Jugnot) to babysit his son, Rémi (Enzo Tomasini), and is forced to a quiet night. But at some point, Franck's friends show up and the next morning Franck wakes up only to discover that the kid is missing. It's been years since I saw this but I laughed a lot. It's some sort of The Hangover, only there's a missing kid involved.
The Sitter (2011)
Although reluctant about it, Noah (Jonah Hill) agrees to babysit the kid next door (Max Records). At some point, he gets a booty call from his girlfriend (Ari Graynor), and embarks on an urban adventure that soon spins out of control. I don't know how I ended up watching this as I hate Jonah Hill since always but I did and I wasn't a big fan of it.
Tully (2018) - review
After giving birth to her third child, Marlo (Charlize Theron) is exhausted all the time and is having a hard time accepting her new body. Her life changes completely when she hires a night nanny, Tully (Mackenzie Davis). I loved everything about this. How Reitman managed to find humour in such unusual places, how he balanced it with drama, and the performances, especially the performances.
