Update On The Kickstarter For COCAINE SLEEPOVER: If You Want To Help Out - Now's The Bloody Time To Do It!

As you may know, I'm trying to help get an independent movie off the ground for a 3D horror-comedy COCAINE SLEEPOVER (this is not the project that I am working on with Phobia Films) and it seems Shane and Daniella have plateaued around 10-13% in the last few weeks. They are only seeking to hit $80k which isn't a lot really considering what they have to get done and the slice that Kickstarter and Amazon keep.

COCAINE SLEEPOVER is a grindhouse style horror with solid tongue in cheek. Looks hilarious! For more info about how to support the project, click here.

So if you would like more information on how to help make a cool 3D horror-comedy happen be sure to check out their Kickstarter project and pledge support for some very cool gifts. They only have 10 more days to go to collect another $69k or the project doesn't get funded at all. I'm pretty selective with any project that I help get the word out on, so you can count on a professional movie getting made if the micro-lend is successful.

The guys at COCAINE SLEEPOVER have decided to push the limits of practical, hands on marketing and take their campaign to Times Square and other New York hangouts - and you can follow them with this new video of their exploits. Love how they are putting everything they have into this - everything to get the movie done. They are far from giving up!


I truly hope they are successful because it looks like a blast of a movie to get made!

THE 3D EXPERIENCE Set To Rock Times Square In September! Registration Opens Next Week!!

Guys - The 3D Experience (in collaboration with THR) is going to be a huge event and right fair in the middle of Times Square! I am heading to New York to cover the 3 day festival that runs September 24 - 26 and I am getting amped!!

Registration opens next week.

There will be a free, open to the public 3D Experience Showroom with thousands of consumers checking out what is brand spanking new in 3D TVs, 3D Movies, 3D Gaming, 3D Cameras and more. The showroom will be located at 226 West 44th Street at the Discovery Times Square Exposition and runs for the length of the festival.

Most of The 3D Experience is focused on the consumer and bringing the public up to speed on all things 3D. 3D movie screenings will be running in conjunction with festival partner AMC Empire 25 (the busiest theater in the nation) right in Times Square.

The VIP and press lounge will be in the NASDAQ MarketSite at 4 Times Square. I will be hanging out here quite a bit in between catching the Sessions and Forum.

The Forum is geared toward 3D industry professionals and press bringing clarity to 3D on the big screen, at home, 2D to 3D conversions and other timely issues. There will be a panel discussion as well with leading directors, producers and cinematographers.

In addition to the Forum, 3D professionals and press will be able to take part in side by side demonstrations of all the newest 3D TVs.

I love the philosophy of this festival! The 3D Experience is placing a huge emphasis on consumer needs and wants while still presenting extremely compelling professional content. Together the energy will be amazing to watch.

I'll be taking in as many 3D screenings as possible and I am looking forward to making some hard 3D TV comparisons! There is some confusion right now about all the different consumer choices in 3D home theater and of course the whole 2D to 3D conversion issue. THE SMURFS 3D Shooting In The Russian Tea Room

Got some minor details from yesterday's shoot at New York's Russian Tea Room for Columbia's THE SMURFS 3D. The movie is being made as a live action / CG hybrid.

A background performer by the name of Andrew Sellon wrote a brief overview of the scene where he plays a waiter who encounters the villainous Gargamel.

Sellon writes (emphasis is mine): "...I was at the Russian Tea Room in Manhattan filming my “day principal” scene as a waiter who runs into the rude villain Gargamel in the upcoming Smurfs 3D movie, due out in August of 2011 (July 29, 2011). Director Raja Gosnell gave me a warm welcome while I was in the makeup trailer. He couldn’t have been nicer, and his easygoing but clear guidance set the tone for the whole set. He knew what he wanted, but was very open to spontaneous creativity as well. My scene was with Hank Azaria, Sofia Vergara, and Tim Gunn, all of whom were very nice, and all of whom are very funny in the movie...

...A few of the takes reminded me of the old rule about working with children and animals. The cats alternating in the role of Azrael were definitely frisky during the shoot! Hank Azaria was hilarous improvising around their “cattitude.” We had a lot of laughs, and despite the complexity of the scene, it was suprising how quickly the hours flew by. A great day."

Interesting! Should be a great scene, Azaria is a comedic genius and The Russian Tea Room is a gorgeous location. Yes, Azaria has shaved his head for the role! Hopefully there are lots of outtakes. More when it comes in...
