Plot
A Canadian novelist named Yann Martel (Rafe Spall) meets an Indian man, Piscine "Pi" Patel (Irrfan Khan), with some knowledge from Pi's father's friend, for a good book. In several flashbacks Pi tells Yann his life story: young Pi Patel (Gautam Belur, age 5 - Ayush Tandon, age 11/12 - Suraj Sharma, age 16) grew up with  his family in touch with the paternal zoo, blending dreams and reality since his childhood.
While in the Mariana Trench, after his father (Adil Hussain) decided they will move to Canada and sell the zoo there, due to a frightening storm the ship in which they travel sinks. Pi will be alone with an unusual fellow traveler: tiger Richard Parker, the most feared animal in the paternal zoo. Pi can rely solely on his intelligence to survive and live with the tiger.

Opinion
Life of Pi is a journey into the human soul, among dreams, hopes and nightmares. Pi's quote «God, thank you for giving me my life.» is able to sum up the meaning of the film.
Ang Lee (Academy Award winner for Best Directory) is remarkable as usual. I believe any possible word that can be used to describe the cinematography would be in a way offensive. Visual Effects are perfectly used. This film is worthy its 127 minutes.

Quotes
I suppose in the end, the whole of life becomes an act of letting go, but what always hurts the most is not taking a moment to say goodbye.

He was such an evil man. But worse still, he brought the evil out in me. I have to live with that.
