Plot
A strange alien life form consumes everything in its path as it grows and grows.

Verdict
While you could nitpick logic, science, and the stereotypical characters, this is a fun, campy ride. The story is pure '50s sci-fi, ingenious in it's simplicity, with a hearty helping of '80s gore effects, cheese, and conspiracy theories. A blob consumes everything in its path and continues to grow. Enjoy how over the top this can be and you won't be disappointed.
Watch it.

Review
While I've watched the original 1958 The Blob, I don't remember much about it other than thinking it should be titled the attack of grape jelly. This version is more violent with a highly aggressive blob.

This version is typical '80s in the way it sets up the characters. We've got the jock, the cheerleader, and the rebel. We don't wait long for the action to begin as very soon an arm is completely torn off. This is a gross out, effects laden movie.

The story is simple, but that doesn't make it bad. All of the threads set up in the beginning come back at various points later. It even includes a full government conspiracy and cover up.
Like a lot of movies from the '80s, it has no regard for reality and assumes bones are incredibly rubbery, but I had a lot of fun with this.
