The Crown Season 2 premieres on December 8
Claire Foy plays Elizabeth II and Matt Smith (Dr. Who) plays Prince Phillip. Netflix has committed to 2 seasons/20 episodes, though the show could extend to cover current day. Read my season 1 review.
A teaser video released in August. Michael C. Hall will play JFK in season 2,which will conclude at 1964, which could signal a new cast moving forward. Foy and Smith would be too young to play their respective parts at that point. The creators have mentioned continuing to present day.
The official trailer released on November 6, with a Margaret trailer releasing on November 15. Netflix has also release the Evolution of the Crown video and the Season 2 World Premeire video.
While seasons 3 and 4 have not officially been confirmed, it was reported on October 27 that Olivia Colman (Broadchurch, The Night Manager) will play Queen Elizabeth in seasons 3 and 4. Early pre-production has already begun.
In January The Crown won the best drama Golden Globe with Claire Foy winning best actress.
