I'm not sure what exactly kicked off this recent celebration of all things retro, nostalgia and throw back, but over the past ten or so years there have been a ton of 1980s inspired action and horror films. From the synth inspired soundtrack to the faux VHS aesthetic, these “homages” are all the rage and among them are a fair share of parodies. But these aren't exactly a new idea. There were Saturday the 14th, Shriek If You Know What I Did Last Friday the 13th, and all sorts that satirized The Blair Witch Project including The Bogus Witch Project starring Pauly Shore and probably the best know is Scary Movie which spawned an entire series of films that poked fun at horror new and old.
