Check Out The New Disney Featurette - A TANGLED World: Creating The Difference

We have a new featurette for you from Disney (courtesy of AwardsDaily) focusing on the creation of TANGLED. The imagery is amazing. And it should be, the directors Nathan Greno and Byron Howard used Disneyland's own Fantasyland for inspiration. LOVE the forest pub idea they have come up with...

Storyline:
The long-haired Princess Rapunzel has spent her entire life in a tower, but when she falls in love with a bandit who was passing by she must venture into the outside world for the first time to find him.

Mandy Moore voices Zapunzel and Zachary Levi takes on Flynn Rider's character.



TANGLED will be released in limited theaters on November 12 and will taken wide on November 24.

Disney's TANGLED: Second Teaser Trailer!

Disney Animation has released the second teaser trailer for TANGLED and it is not half bad. In fact, I can see some Pixar influences in their work and I love it. Artistically, TANGLED should be a must see.

Storywise, directors Nathan Greno and Byron Howard are brushing up the male lead's role in an effort to attract a male audience. RAPUNZEL was clearly a female-centric story - not so much in today's version.

TANGLED is set to hit 3d theaters November 24.

First Look: Disney's TANGLED!

The good folks at Disney are giving TV audiences a first look at their upcoming 3D animation TANGLED on Sunday night hosted by, you guessed it, the Disney Channel.

Disney already has 15 seconds of the movie exposed during a commercial to market the event which has made its way to this very post!

TANGLED is a project of Disney Animation Studios and is slated for a November 24 release.

GUARDIANS OF GA'HOOLE Renamed *AND* New Titling For TANGLED

Jim here. Warner Bros has recently renamed GUARDIANS OF GA'HOOLE to LEGEND OF THE GUARDIANS in what I think was an expected move. Let's face it, Ga'hoole is a strange word. I suppose Na'vi is too, but somehow I don't think GUARDIANS is going to impact our society quite like AVATAR has.

September 24 is still the release date however. The voice cast includes Hugo Weaving, Helen Mirren, Sam Neill, Geoffrey Rush, Emily Barclay, Abbie Cornish, Emilie de Ravin, Ryan Kwanten, Jay Laga'aia, Miriam Margolyes, Richard Roxburgh, Jim Sturgess and David Wenham.

Here is the new titling for Disney's TANGLED which was formally known as RAPUNZEL.

The teaser trailer looks enticing and in S3D I think the whole thing will come alive and vibrant. Looking forward to it - although I liked the original name much better. I'm afraid the branding will suffer because of it.

Disney's 3D Animation RAPUNZEL Now Entitled TANGLED

Jim here. I waited a bit to make sure this was on the up and up first as I thought that if Disney were going to rename a property they would have done so MUCH earlier. But that is not the case with RAPUNZEL according to Disney (via /Film).

Disney Animation has renamed RAPUNZEL to TANGLED. Word is they are doing it partially to alleviate fears that some young boys would be turned off by the title's perceived feminine name. Interesting point of view. Disney apparently has gotten a little shaken by the average return that THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG gave them ($101m domestic, $150m worldwide) when really they just have to release their movies in 3D! lol.

Seriously though, S3D delivers that extra box office that is very important to the studios' bottom line. While I understood what they were trying to accomplish with TPATF, traditional, hand drawn 2D cartoons may be a thing of the past for cinematic audiences. With each successive revolution of technology in Hollywood, old school animation gets further behind. You know, I really do hate saying that too. I have enjoyed watching Disney hand drawn animation all my life. But the young generations have not. That's something to keep in mind going forward.

RAPUNZEL TANGLED should be a nice hit for them. I cannot wager a guess at box office at this point, but suffice it to say it will do much better than TPATF. Stereoscopic 3D is one of those reasons.
