In this article , we will be giving our review of Shahid Kapoor's "KABIR SINGH" also starring Kiara Alia Advani , which is a remake of "ARJUN REDDY".

Kabir Singh Movie Review

SYNOPSIS

• The movie starts with Kabir Singh (Shahid Kapoor) living alone with his dog. He is a heavy driver and almost consumes all the toxic chemicals. 

• The movie trips into a flashback where Kabir along with his friend Shiva (Sohum Majumdar) study at Delhi Institute of Medical Sciences. He sees Preeti (Kiara Advani) and falls head over heals for her. Kabir being very impatient and a rowdy person, warns the students of the college to not flirt or even roam around her. Preeti soon starts liking him and they start living together in college. 

• Even after Kabir moves out of the college for higher studies, they use to meet each other. After both of them finish studying, Kabir and Preeti decide to get married and settle down. Kabir visits her home and waits for her dad. He and Preeti are in their "private space" and seeing this, her father gets angry and throws him out. Kabir tells his father Rajdheer Singh (Suresh Oberoi) and brother Karan Singh (Arjan Bajwa) to talk to her parents. But they refuse stating that if the girl also likes him, she will get her parents to talk. Kabir again goes to her house and this time talks very inappropriately with her father. Preeti tries to console him but he listens none. She takes him out and tries to explain the situation but he slaps him. Kabir in his rage, starts taking drugs and becomes an addict.

• What happens next? Will Preeti talk to her parents? Will Kabir be okay? Will he leave drugs to live a peaceful life? Will he and Preeti live a happily-ever-after life or end of living without each other? Find out the answers by watching the movie.

PERFORMANCES

• Talking about the performances, everyone knows who has taken the cake here. Be it Udta Punjab, Haider or Padmaavat, Shahid KAPOOR was fantastic in those films but he was always underappreciated for his performance but boy here, he steals the show. I do not have words but to say that this is his best performance would also be an understatement. 

• He is altogether amazing to the next level. 

• His acting is terrific. 

• The emotions portrayed by him alongside his angst as well as the humor is superlative. 

• He truly shows here that it his movie and we all know the kind of performer he is. He is surely, the king of Intense Performances. 

• I just wish to see him regularly at the screens and I think that he surely is getting more roles like these after this kind of Performance.
• 

• Kiara ADVANI is sweet and charming in her role. 

• She has got very less dialogues in the first half but she owns the climax. Her confrontation scene with Shahid is to watch out for. 

• She has truly got a very good role written for her. 

• She always got half baked roles written for her and I think with this role, she has got her due .

• Her performance will also become one of the most talked aspects of the movie even after Shahid performing with. such brilliance .

• Sohum Majumdar as Shiva is too good as Kabir's best friend. He takes care of Kabir when no one is at his side. What Kamli was to Sanju is what Shiva is to Kabir. I wish I too have a friend like him who supports one in their tough time. His timing in the comedy scenes or his acting in the emotional scenes is top notch. He leaves a lasting impact on the mind of audience.

• Nikita Dutta as Actress Jia Sharma adds the oomph quotient in the movie in the second half. She looks beautiful in her extended cameo and acts well. Suresh Oberoi as Rajdheer Singh and Arjan Bajwa as Karan Singh are also good in their supportive roles.

Story and Direction

• The story and Direction by Sandeep Reddy Vanga is masterpiece. 

• He has put his life and soul in the movie and has made it a terrific watch. 

• Seeing the initial trailer and songs of the movie, I thought that the movie will appeal to the classes only but oh boy, I watched this movie at a single screen and I think I need to watch it again because the I wasn't able to hear some of the dialogues. People were whistling , shouting and clapping watching the scenes of the movie. 

• He had a very powerful story in his hands and comes out shining in bright colors. The emotions and the humor is terrific. 

• The thing which I like about the movie is that humour is laced with the story and doesn't look stupid.

Music 

• Songs of the movie are already chartbuster. 

• Each and every song in the movie is good 

• and what's more interesting is that the songs are used as Background only with a paragraph or 2 each time.  

• Everyone's favorite is BEKHAYALI and so is mine. Also, Tujhe kitna chahne lge and Kaise Hua are good.

OTHER TECHNICAL ASPECTS

• Editing is the department where most of the people will say that it should be trimmed and etc. But I feel that 3 hours narrative was necessary. The pain of heartbreak and all the drugs thing would have seemed scattered and over the top had the movie been not that long. 

• Screenplay is fast paced in the first half. The second half dips a little bit but again gains speed in the last half an hour.

My Opinion

• Overall, The BEAST named Shahid Kapoor is back at the cinema near you. Do yourself a favor and watch the movie. You won't be disappointed a bit. Paisa Vasool entertainment toh First Half ke Holi scene mein mil jaayega...rest everything is a bonus. 
• Also guys, the thing that Few critics and especially the urban women calling the movie 'a show of Toxic Masculinity' and 'Misogynist' are wrong I feel. It's Cinema and it should be enjoyed. Also, movies like Veerey di Wedding (cringe) seemed feminine to these feminist. People should understand that there are variety of people living in the country. Few people think of females at highest order whereas some think of them considering them not equal to men. It's the story of that kind of man and yes that's why the character is flawed. This is why Shahid deserves all the awards this year for his performance. People talking about the opening of the movie should talk about the 20 crores mark as the audience word of mouth is very very positive. The movie will cross 100 crores by the end of week 1 at the BOX OFFICE. It should cross 150 crores as the movie is fantabulous.

Watch it or Watch Out
