SYNOPSIS

• After ending the last season with Gaitonde out of jail, he is trapped in International Waters and is in a boat arrest by Trivedi(Chittaranjan Tripathi) and Raw Agent KD YADAV( Amruta Subhash). They send Gaitonde to Kenya to use him for their work and in return, tell him that they will help him. He meets Purshottam( Saanand Verma) and makes him the Drug King Pin in Kenya by killing Mohammad Bobacha. Next work assigned to Gaitonde is to kill Shahid Khan, an ISI agent. Between this , Gaintonde meets his Third Father Guruji( Pankaj Tripathi) and is mesmerized by his subtle energy. He helps Gaitonde in realising that he has been a demon whole his life and should quit all the bad work he is doing. Gaintonde leaves Shahid after planting a time bomb in Shahid's Car and walks away to rest in Guruji's ashram. Also, he has to stay there as he had produced on himself in Mumbai and Police is after him. He also likes Jojo( Surveen Chawla), the manager of many escort girls including Jamila/ Zoya( Elnaaz Norouzi). Gaintonde living there becomes the right-hand of Guruji but slowly finds out a secret. 

• On the other hand, after finding about the nuclear attack, Sartaj(Saif Ali Khan) and Majid(Aamir Bashir) have to find Gaitonde's third Father and Shahid Khan. They get hold of Maalam and Aalam, two brother who supplied the nuclear weapons in the state. They inform them about involvement of officials from their department. Also, Sartaj visits Guruji's Ashram and finds the current head of Ashram, Batya Abelman(Kalki Koechlin) and talks to her (not revealing his identity). He finds out that his father, Constable Dilbagh Singh(Jaipreet Singh) was also a there in Ashram when Gaitonde was also here. 

• Now, 12 days are left and Police is working with Raw to find out what is going to happen. Also, they need to find Shahid Khan (Ranvir Shorey) and catch hold of Malcolm (Luke Kenny) who was on a killing spree last season and wanted to find something. 

• What is the secret that Guruji is hiding from Ganesh? What will be the reaction of Ganesh after Finding the Secret? Why does Gaintonde kills Jojo and calls Sartaj after that? PERFORMANCES

• Saif Ali Khan as Sartaj Singh is brilliant. Saif has always been a very good actor compared to his contemporaries and owns the show. His acting is effective. He does full Justice to the role.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Ganesh Gaitonde is Terrific. Just 1 episode in the series and you know how good an actor he is. The versatility this man has is commendable. From being a Gaitonde who is fearless and uncaring to being a Gaitonde who is emotional and loyal, this man owns it all. Nawaz is in a different league when it comes to the Entertainment Section of the Country. He is a Gem of an Actor and shows his potential to full thrust here.

• Pankaj Tripathi as Guruji is First Rate. His voice is magical here and you just loose yourself listening to him. From being Kaleen Bhaiya in Mirzapur to Guruji in Sacred Games, this man deserves a standing ovation for the kind of roles he is choosing and killing it completely.

• Kalki Koechlin is Splendid as Batya Abelman. Ranvir Shorey is alright as Shahid Khan. Though I wish these two actors should have been given a longer role, especially the latter one, nonetheless, they were very good to watch.

• Amruta Subhash as Raw Agent KD YADAV does a good job. Her role is very nicely written be it in the past time or the present.

• Jatin Sarna as Bunty is given much less role this time but as usual, he is hilarious from the word go. His comic timing is superb.

• Neeraj Kabi as Parulkar and Aamir Bashir as Majid are wonderful in their roles. Aamir Bashir almost has a role equal to that of Saif and doesn't disappoint a bit.

• Luke Kenny as Malcolm looks Dangerous and succeeds in his role. Elnaaz Norouzi looks stunning in her job. Girish Kulkarni as Bipin Bhosle is alright and manages to give some light moments. Anupriya Goenka as Megha Singh looks beautiful. Vikram Kochar as Mathu is good. Samir Kocchar as Markand is effective. Rest all support the lead cast brilliantly

• Surveen Chawla as Jojo Mascarenas is very good. She looks very beautiful and acts maturely.

Story and Direction

• The story by Varun Grover is layered and takes time to settle down. First Few Episodes are a bit slow but as the Series Progresses, it becomes exciting to watch. The twists keep us on our toes and are revealed slowly in the last 4 episodes. The last episode is the lifeline of the show as the Twists in that episode are exciting as hell.

• Coming to the Direction, Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane and Neeraj Ghaywan stand winners. They have directed the show nicely keeping it an edge-of-the-seat thriller and keep the excitement intact. Last time, it was Gaintonde's story which was brilliant showcased whereas this time, it's Sartaj's story which I liked more. The editing is good in parts as some scenes in the initial episodes could have been done away.

OTHER TECHNICAL ASPECTS

• Production Value of the Movie is Rich. 

• The Music is good especially the Gaitonde's part or say the part that is shot in the Ashram

My Opinion

• Overall, Sacred Games Season-2 is better than last season. Yes, it is slow in parts but the story this time is much better with good suspense and twists. I would have given it 3.5 but 1 extra is for the last episode. The show is intriguing and a very good Entertainer.

Alles ist gut (2018)

When dealing with a subject as sensitive as rape, films usually go for the unexpected act of extreme violence followed by its devastating and dramatic consequences, and that usually leaves room for little else. Thankfully, that's not the case with Eva Trobisch's Alles ist gut (All good), a restrained debut that provides an interesting, rather unique and compelling perspective on sexual abuse and its psychological effects; a film Netflix can finally be proud of. 

Written by Trobisch, the story follows Janne (Aenne Schwarz), a young woman in a live-in relationship with her boyfriend, Piet (Andreas Döhler), who is now facing a financial crisis as the publishing house they run together has gone bankrupt. 

On the weekend, Janne goes back to her hometown for her high school reunion; she runs into Robert (Tilo Nest), the man she used to babysit for, who offers her a job. At the same time, she meets Martin (Hans Löw), Robert's brother-in-law who happens to be attending the same reunion. After an ordinary but fun night at the reunion, as they both are a little tipsy, Janne offers Martin to crush at her place. Although there's no flirtation, Martin misinterprets her generosity and makes a move; she rejects him and asks him to stop, and he forces himself on her. 

After a brief struggle, Janne endures the rape, does not report it and does not talk about it as she tries to move on with her life as if nothing had happened. But in the following days, when she accepts Robert's offer and learns that Martin will also be working there, she realises that pretending that it's all good isn't going to be as easy as she thought. 

As you may have guessed, Alles ist gut is not a plot-heavy film — the story is indeed very simple and straightforward. It also features a couple of subplots — one about Janne's relationship with Piet; the other revolving around Robert's marriage — that aren't particularly compelling and often take away the focus from the main storyline. 

These flaws, however, aren't much of an issue here as this is the kind of film that relies entirely on its characters, and the script is quite strong on that front. First of all, Trobish does not fall in the cliché of portraying the characters as either good or bad, and all of them are relatable in some way or another — even the rapist, at some point, as he is not "only" the monster one would expect a rapist to be, but a good man who, once sober, regrets what he did. Second, it has a very strong lead. Not only Trobisch takes her time to introduce Janne and allows us to form an attachment to her almost immediately — therefore we care about her —, but she wrote a character that feels tremendously real. Janne is a tough young woman who is used to relying on nobody but herself, and decides to keep quiet about the abuse not because she refuses to take the role of the victim but because she thinks that's the best option. She wants to move on with her life, just forget about the traumatic event. And how to blame her? After all, we live in a society that still doesn't know how to treat rape victims, and often, usually, ends up blaming the victim for the violence — how many times have we heard things like "she should have not worn that dress" or "she should have not got drunk"? 

Aenne Schwarz's nuanced performance as Janne is easily the film's greatest strength as she owns the character from start to finish. She smiles, even laughs, but while doing so, either with a curl of the lip or a glance, she manages to convey the devastating emotional effects of the rape. She tries to brush it off but at the same time you can read anger, shame, disgust on her face. She acts like she is in control, but there's always that tiny movement on her face that makes you realise she's crumbling. The performance is so powerful, I was on the verge of tears several times. 

The rape scene is also worth mentioning as it's one of the best-handled rape scenes I've seen in movies. It's not an overly-dramatic scene that shows off the violence and the rapist but a real-world scenario as it focuses on Janne as she feels overpowered and helpless, and gives in physically because, once again, that's the best option. 

Murder Mystery (2019)

The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected) probably being the only exception — I haven't seen his entire filmography —, Adam Sandler movies are usually downright terrible. It's pretty much the same when it comes to Jennifer Aniston; there are some exceptions here and there but most of her films are just not that good. Because of this, it didn't seem like a particularly good idea to spend my free Friday morning to watch Netflix's latest original, Murder Mystery, which stars both. Surprisingly, the film exceeded my expectations as it is a quite enjoyable combination of comedy, mystery and romance. 

Written by Zodiac's screenwriter James Vanderbilt, the story follows a married couple, Nick (Adam Sandler) and Audrey Spitz (Jennifer Aniston), living a rather bland life in New York. Nick is a police officer who has yet again failed the detective exam and keeps lying to his wife about it; Audrey is a hairdresser who just wants more romance in her life. On their 15th anniversary, with hearing her speak on it, Nick finally decides to take her on a European vacation, which he owed her since their honeymoon. 

However, while on the plane, Audrey befriends a charming playboy, Charles Cavendish (Luke Evans), who invites them both to a luxurious yacht party in Monaco hosted by tycoon Malcolm Quince (Terence Stamp). When Quince is murdered, Nick and Audrey become the prime suspects in the investigation conducted by French Inspector Laurent Delacroix (Dany Boon), so they start their own investigation to find the real murderer.

If you are willing to close an eye on the nonsense dynamic that makes the story start, the French Inspector suspecting of Nick and Audrey for no reason whatsoever other than kicking off the couple's European adventure, the story of Murder Mystery is actually quite enjoyable and entertaining, and the element of mystery keeps it engaging from beginning to end. Sure, it often falls in familiar territory as what follows is a manhunt, other murders — at some point, as the suspects were murdered one by one, I thought Vanderbilt went for a And There There Were None finale —, and the typical, climatic action flick car chase, but it's nevertheless enjoyable. 

The characters don't have a lot of characterization and development — they are pretty one-dimensional, to be honest — but they fit the actors very well. Adam Sandler is given just the right material for him, the juvenile humour he does, kind of, wonders with, and a dramatic touch to keep his performance more enjoyable. Jennifer Aniston also gives an enjoyable performance as the mystery novel obsessed Audrey and steals the show every time she is on screen. There's very nice chemistry between them which makes Sandler yet again having a romantic interest way more attractive than he feel genuine. Nice support comes from Luke Evans as a suave playboy and Gemma Arterton as a vamp actress. 

As for the comedy, it's a bit of a hit and miss. While the film certainly has its moments, most of which are very silly and yet funny, Murder Mystery is not one of those comedies that delivers a joke after another, and it's not always effective when it delivers them as some of the jokes fall flat. However, it must be said that the humour is never offensive as it tends to be in most comedies nowadays, even with many ethnicities represented. Also, when the comedy falls flat, the mystery and romance keep the film afloat and flowing at a steady pace. 

Ultimately, Murder Mystery won't be the comedy of the year, nor Netflix's best original — hopefully — but it's a solid comedy that it's worth checking out.

SYNOPSIS

• Leila is a show on dystopian (undesirable) future in 2047. Shalini (Huma) who had an inter-caste marriage with Rizwan Chaudhary (Rahul Khanna) and they have a 5 year old daughter Leila. His husband bribed the water suppliers and made swimming pool in his house. 

• While swimming with his daughter and Shalini clicking pictures, they are attacked by the People of Aryavarta (the people who run the country at that time and are against the western values and culture which includes Inter-Caste Marriage). They attack them for having an Inter-Caste Marriage and stealing water during the time of drought. They kill Rizwan and take Shalini away with them. 

• After 2 years, Shalini (now Shalini Pathak) lives in a Shram Ashram which is headed by Guru Ma (Arif Zakaria). The Aryavarta have captured the country even the currency notes are printed with the pictures of the head, Mr. Joshi ( Sanjay Suri) who lives abroad and in India, the Chief is Rao Sahib (Akash Khurana) ( Akash Khurana is Barfi ka Papa). Shalini doesn't know that her husband is dead and wants to find out Leila. She lives a torturous life in Shram Ashram and wants to escape from that place. This starts her journey to find her daughter. She escapes from Ashram, runs away from Police , works in houses of people who are engineer in a Project in Aryavarta. She also meets a Police Officer Bhanu (Siddharth). He wants to finish Aryavarta because of some reasons and wants to take help of Shalini. He promises her to help find her daughter. 

• What are those reasons? Will Shalini be able to find out Leila? Will Shalini take help of Bhanu? Why is Shalini working in the house of chief Engineer? Will she be able to dodge the Police , Mr. Joshi, Guru Ma and Rao Sahib and take Leila with her?

PERFORMANCES

• The acting department excels with the solid story at hand. 

• Huma Quereshi is back and how. She just required a role to show her calibre and here she is. Though she could have been better in the emotional scenes, none the less, a powerhouse performance. The scenes reminding of her maid and the scenes where, she is the maid , are powerful and shows her acting prowess . 

• Siddharth as Bhanu is very different from Siddharth as Omi from Chashme Baddoor . This shows his versatility as an actor. He is a powerful actor and has shown his calibre aptly. Rahul Khanna as Rizwan Chaudhary is apt in the role given to him. 

• The scenes of Arif Zakaria as Guru Ma are tough to watch and he is fantastic here because it was a tailor made role for him. 

• Akash Khurana is okay as Rao Sahib. Rahul Khanna was there for just few minutes.

•  Overall, the acting performances were fantastic.

Story and Script Analysis

• The story is lifeline of Leila. 

• It takes us through a journey of ups and downs of a lady who wants to find her daughter and wants to know what has happened to her. 

• It is a journey of not only the emotional but mental struggle of a lady which is brilliantly portrayed by Huma Qureshi.

Technical Aspects

• The Background Music of the show is very powerful and seems like it is inspired by Sacred Games. 

• The Editing is wonderful. The intensity of the series is very good. The emotions have been captured beautifully. 

• The screenplay is fast paced. 

Direction

• The direction by  Deepa Mehta, Shanker Raman and Pawan Kumar is engaging and powerful. 

• There are few scenes which are very powerful and equally disturbing. The marriage sequence in the first episode is the example of how powerful the direction is. 

• The concept of dystopian future is also very different yet interesting to watch. 

• The episodes never makes a viewer bored.

"LEILA" My Opinion

• Leila , created by Urmi Juvekar and written by Patrick Graham , Suhani Juvekar and again Urmi Juvekar is one of finest Indian series on Netflix. 

• Overall, the 6 episodes series on Netflix will be one of the highly talked shows in India and will be loved by the Youth. 

• Highly Recommended material.

Tallulah (2016)

"Yet another Netflix original with a great cast to lure you into watching it" was my first thought we Tallulah's popped up on my homepage. I do love Ellen Page and Allison Janney too much though so I couldn't just ignore it. And I'm glad I didn't because this is one of those small gems more people need to watch.

A real-life experience of director Sian Heder herself — she was once asked to look after a toddler with a trainwreck of a parent while working as a hotel babysitter and she was tempted to rescue the child but eventually turned it into a short film, Mother, which then became a feature film, Tallulah —, the story follows Tallulah (Ellen Page), a homeless young woman. When her boyfriend, Nico (Evan Jonigkeit) leaves her and takes all their money, she seeks help from Nico's mother, Margo (Allison Janney). But when Margo doesn't want anything to do with her, she goes to a hotel for food and money and gets hired by a rich, partying, neglectful mother, Carolyn (Tammy Blanchard), to look after her toddler. Reluctant at first, Tallulah accepts the job but, when Carolyn returns home wasted, she decides to take the baby and return to Margo for help. 

The story isn't anything new and it's not particularly interesting at the beginning — it's rather boring, actually, and I almost stopped watching because of it — but as soon as it gets going, when Tallulah kidnaps the baby, the story turns out to be quite compelling and involving. 

Tallulah, however, wouldn't work as good as it does if it wasn't for its characters. Although each one of them is something we have seen before, the three central characters — Tallulah, Margo, and Carolyn — are complex and developed. But most of all, we are given a protagonist who isn't particularly likeable nor sympathetic and yet we cannot help but care about her as she, Tallulah, is a complicated, lost young woman who, as we find out later on, has been abandoned for her entire life which resulted in her not trusting others, and sees in her action the only way to give that baby a better life than she had, even if that means hiding and running. Tallulah has been through so much we sure cannot blame her for the irresponsible way she acts. Margo is a sad, angry, bitter woman who can't let go of her past relationship — which ended with her husband cheating on her with another man — and is horrible to most people in her life, specifically to her soon-to-be ex-husband (John Benjamin Hickey). Carolyn is an unworthy, neglectful mother as well as a tremendously flawed woman and yet, she grows so much throughout the film and shows so much heart we cannot help but sympathize towards her. 

The performances are top-notch. Ellen Page is terrific as the titular role as she gives an intense, emotional performance. Allison Janney gives yet another powerful performance, and the chemistry she shares with Page is so natural it gives the film a genuine touch. Tammy Blanchard too gives a great performance as the unfit mother. And Uzo Aduba, Orange Is the New Black's Crazy Eyes, steals the show every time she is on screen.

Ultimately, just like its characters, Tallulah is a flawed and yet compelling film that will make you both laugh and cry, and that deals with themes of maternity, personal responsibility and family is a sensible and touching way.
