Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile (May 3)

Netflix Distributed Movie

tells the story of mass-murderer Ted Bundy (Zac Efron) but seen through a viewpoint of his imagined innocence. Lily Collins plays his devoted partner, with Haley Joel Osment, Kaya Scodelario, John Malkovich, Angela Sarafyan and Jim Parsons also starring. Premiered at the 2019 Sundance film festival.

Dead to Me Season 1 (May 3)

Netflix Original Series - 10 episodes

A powerful friendship blossoms between a tightly wound widow and a free spirit with a shocking secret. Christina Applegate plays Jen, struggling to keep it together after her husband was killed in a hit and run. Linda Cardellini plays the free spirit Judy.

Starring Jamie King as a mother torn from her daughter who embarks upon a harrowing journey, stopping at nothing to find her. She must brave a hostile new world and make brutal decisions during the most deadly summer of a zombie apocalypse.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 1 Part 2 (April 5)

Netflix Original Series - 10 episodes

The series re-imagines the origin and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult, and witchcraft. In the vein of Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist, this adaptation finds Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature of half-witch, half-mortal while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family, and the world humans inhabit. The one-hour drama is based on the comic Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

Huge in France Season 1 (April 12)

Netflix Original Series - 8 episodes

Co-created and executive produced by French comedian Gad Elmaleh, the series is inspired by Gad's own life and career, following him in a move from France to U.S. He's a huge comedian in France, but at a crossroads he leaves for Los Angeles to try and reconnect with his estranged, comedy hating, sixteen year old male model son.
Elmaleh already has one comedy special with Netflix and another one in the works.

Loyalties are tested when five friends reunite to take down a South American drug lord, unleashing a chain of unintended consequences. JC Chandor's movie stars Ben Affleck, Oscar Isaac, Pedro Pascal, Charlie Hunnam, and Garrett Hedlund. Filming began March 26, 2018 in Hawaii.
Will also release in select theaters.

Love, Death & Robots Season 1 (March 15)

Netflix Original Animated Series - 18 episodes

In this animated anthology series from Tim Miller and David Finchers aimed at adults, the shorts will span the genres, from science fiction and fantasy to horror and comedy, while also presenting a variety of animation formats, from traditional 2D to photo-real 3D CGI. Each segment will be between five and fifteen minutes long, created by different teams of filmmakers from around the world. First reported on January 7, 2019.

Chronicling the misadventures of the Bluth family, this clever comedy centers on a dysfunctional family, starsring Jason Bateman, Jeffrey Tambor, Will Arnett, and David Cross.

The Highwaymen (March 29)

Netflix Original Movie

Woody Harrelson and Kevin Costner are two former Texas Rangers who hunt down Depression Era outlaws Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow. John Lee Hancock directs. Costner would play Frank Hamer and Harrelson would play Manny Gault.

This has a vibe similar to The Watchmen. I like the alternate history angle, and this has a lot of potential.
A dysfunctional family of super heroes work together to solve their father's mysterious death.
This takes place in an alternate history where JFK wasn't assassinated and set in 1977.

Jake Gyllenhaal always picks very interesting roles, this is no exception. While the description seems simple, the trailer makes this seem like a pseudo horror movie.
This revolves around big money artists and mega-collectors who pay a high price when art collides with commerce.

A Series of Unfortunate Events Season 3 (January 1)

Netflix Original Series - 10 episodes
Based on Lemony Snicket's children's books, three orphaned children are pursued by Count Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris), their murderous relative who wants their inheritance. The children discover a secret society.
This is planned for three seasons spanning the thirteen books.

Kingdom Season 1 (January 25)

Netflix Korean Language Original Series - 6 episodes

Kingdom is a period zombie thriller series by Kim Seong-hun. It is Netflix's second original series in South Korea .Set during Korea's medieval Joseon dynasty, a crown prince is sent on a suicide mission to investigate a mysterious outbreak. The epidemic is zombies.
Reported on July 16, 2018, the series has been renewed for season 2.

Black Earth Rising Season 1 (January 25)

Netflix Distributed Series with BBC2

A thriller about the prosecution of international war crimes and the personal, legal and political turmoil it ignites. John Goodman and Chewing Gum creator Michaela Coel have been cast. Set across the UK, Europe, Africa and the US, Kate Ashby (Michaela Coel) was rescued as a young child during the Rwandan genocide and adopted by Eve Ashby (Harriet Walter), a world-class British prosecutor in international criminal law. Kate was raised in Britain and, now in her late 20s, she works as a legal investigator in the law chambers of Michael Ennis (John Goodman). Eve takes a case at the International Criminal Court involving an African militia leader.

After exacting revenge on those responsible for the death of his wife and children, Frank Castle uncovers a conspiracy that runs far deeper than New York’s criminal underworld. 
Josh Stewart, Floriana Lima & Giorgia Whigham join the season 2 cast.
Josh Stewart will play John Pilgrim, a man whose calm exterior belies a ruthless interior. Despite having left behind a life of violence, circumstances will force him to Frank Castle's world. Floriana Lima will play Krista Dumont, a smart, compassionate and driven psychotherapist for military veterans. Giorgia Whigham will play Amy Bendix, a street-smart grifter with a mysterious past. 
Corbin Bernsen and Annette O'Toole join the cast as reported on May 10, 2018.

The Last Laugh (January 11)

Netflix Original Movie

This comedy stars Chevy Chase, Richard Dreyfuss, and Lewis Black.
The story centers on a talent manager (Chevy Chase) and widower (Richard Dreyfuss) reuniting long after Dreyfuss's character gave up a promising career as a stand-up comedian to settle down and start a family. He gets to see the life he could have had as he and his manager rekindle friendships, careers, and reminisce about the past.
Written and directed by Greg Pritikin, Andie MacDowell, Kate Micucci and Chris Parnell have also been cast. It was reported that filming began September 25.

Sex Education Season 1 (January 11)

Meet Otis Thompson – a socially awkward high school virgin who lives with his mother, a sex therapist. Surrounded by manuals, videos and tediously open conversations about sex, Otis is a reluctant expert on the subject. When his home life is revealed at school, Otis realizes that he can use his specialist knowledge to gain status. He teams up with Maeve, a whip-smart bad-girl, and together they set up an underground sex therapy clinic to deal with their fellow students’ weird and wonderful problems. Through his analysis of teenage sexuality, Otis realizes he may need some therapy of his own.

Written and directed by Alfonso Cuarón, the story chronicles a tumultuous year in the life of a middle-class family in Mexico City in the early 1970s.
Netflix is releasing this in theaters as they are betting this nabs award nominations. Early reviews have been great.

Pine Gap Season 1 (December 7)

Netflix Original Series - 6 episodes

International political thriller set around the shared U.S.-Austrailian intelligence facility at Pine Gap. Aussie and American employees juggle on the job tensions and personal relationships at a joint intelligence facility.
A spy type series sounds like a lot of fun.

Travelers Season 3 (December 14)

Netflix Original Series

Technology exists to send a person's consciousness back to the 21st century, where they assume a random person's body and identity at the exact moment they die. Teams work secretly to save the world from a terrible future.
This series has been a lot of fun, but after season 2 I have to wonder how it continues.
Season 3 will be a Netflix Exclusive

Guillermo del Toro's  Trollhunters will expand into a trilogy featuring trolls in Trollhunters, wizards in Wizards, and aliens in 3Below.
Two royal teenage aliens and their bodyguard escape a surprise takeover of their home planet by an evil dictator and crash land in Arcadia. They struggle to blend in and adapt to the bizarre world of high school.
Trollhunters is an amazing series with great story telling and amazing moments, I can't wait to see the spin off.

I'm a big fan of Joel & Ethan Coen, so I can't wait to see the anthology Western series they wrote and directed. Each chapter will feature a distinct story about the American West.

1983 Season 1 (November 30)

Netflix Original Polish Language Series - 8 episodes

I love this concept and I like things set in the Cold War. This has huge potential. This alternative history Cold War spy thriller is set in a world where the Iron Curtain never fell. In 2003, twenty years after a devastating terrorist attack that halted the race of the Soviet Union and marked their downfall, an idealistic law student and a disgraced police investigator stumble upon a conspiracy that has kept the Iron Curtain standing and Poland living under a repressive police state.

The Other Side of the Wind (November 2)

Netflix Original Movie

This film within a film was left unfinished n 1985 when Orson Welles died. I'm concerned about how it will fare without Welles, but it's something I have to see based on pedigree alone.
In the movie, a non-conformist director staging a comeback dies shortly after his party. Clips of the directors latest movie are interspersed throughout.

Outlaw King (November 9)

Netflix Original Movie

I'm hoping for something along the lines of Braveheart, this has all the potential to do that. Robert the Bruce cast aside his comfortable upbringing to defy the Brits and the Catholic Church, ruthlessly consolidating rule among the squabbling noble elite of Scotland, turning back Edward II's armies to free Scotland.

Narcos: Mexico Season 1 (November 16)

Netflix Original Series

It's Narcos. I liked the first two seasons, I expect more of the same. Originally presented as season 4 of Narcos, it's now a spin off series moving to Guadalajara, Mexico. Witness the rise of the Guadalajara Cartel in the 1980s as Felix Gallardo (Diego Luna) takes the helm to build an empire.

House of Cards Season 6 (November 2)

Netflix Original Series - 8 episodes - Final Season

Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright play political savages Frank and Claire Underwood. They have maneuvered Frank from Senator to President, and the next step is securing the party's nomination for president to stay in the White House. It's felt like the show needed to end, so I have to watch the final season. I'm sure Wright is going to impress as the lead.

The Kominsky Method Season 1 (November 16)

Netflix Original Series - 10 episodes

Starring Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin, this comedy follows Hollywood acting coach Sandy Kominsky and his friend and agent Norman. Sandy starts a relationship with Lisa who is not the typical acting student, fifty with an 18 year old. Douglas on a series? I've got to check it out.
