Meet Rob Legato: Virtual Cinematography System Creator for Cameron's "Avatar"

One of the careers I have been following in the 3D world is that of Rob Legato. He is responsible for creating James Cameron's Virtual Cinematography System that uses hundreds of infrared 'cameras' to capture an actor's performances. This output is then converted in real time to monitors for the director to view with backgrounds and CGI elements added (though not full resolution). Read more about it on the Rob Legato link above.

More to the point, take a rare opportunity to go and meet him and hear him talk about his technological achievements and potentially "Avatar". He received an Oscar for Best Visual Effects on "Titanic" and has looked after effects for a number of huge hits like "The Aviator" and "Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone". Remember when Tom Hank's plane went down in "Cast Away"? Wow, do I ever - one of the most realistic scenes I have ever seen in the theater. Yep - Rob Legato.
