Read this last night - interesting! Seems that "Shock Til You Drop" has heard that the next Alexandre Aja movie will be a remake of Piranha and he will be shooting in 3D. At this point it is still a rumor (of it being 3D) and I have added it as such under my upcoming 3D movies list - check it out. Dimension Films have this movie slated for July 24th, 2009. But there is a problem with that...If you will remember from a previous post of mine, StereoVision will be releasing "Aubrey Blaze Piranha 3D" in the fall of 2009. Looks like a box office battle with teeth if you ask me...
Why on earth does Hollywood insist on doubling up on movies like this? Anniversaries are one thing (Wyatt Earp/Tombstone for example), but why compete with the exact same genre if there is no need? C'mon. Yes, piranhas jumping off the screen will make an excellent 3D spectacle, but its gonna get old fast if you saturate everyone with it! Separate these two by at least a year!
