Susan Hill's novel THE WOMAN IN BLACK is getting the big 3D screen treatment. James Watkins will direct and Simon Oakes is producing. Alliance is distributing in Canada, Spain and the UK. Alex Walton of Exclusive Film Distribution is handling worldwide sales at Cannes.Jane Goldman (KICK-ASS) is writing the screenplay.
THE WOMAN IN BLACK follows a young lawyer, Arthur Kipps, who is ordered to travel to a remote village and sort out a recently deceased client's papers. As he works alone in the client's isolated house, Kipps begins to uncover tragic secrets, and his unease grows when he glimpses a mysterious woman dressed only in black.
Production for this ghost story is looking to get underway this fall. With a talented writer on board and a strong original novel, I have high expectations for this project. More when I get it.
