New in Theaters for May

A lot of movies are premiering in May, but only a few of them interest me. This is why they might be worth watching... or avoiding.

WATCHING

Alien: Covenant (May 19, 2017)
I was disappointed with Prometheus (2012), but it's another movie in the Alien franchise. I have to see it.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (May 5, 2017)
Was the first film a standout? Yes. Can they capture the magic twice? I have my doubts, but I know it will have an awesome soundtrack and it has Kurt Russell in addition to Chris Pratt.

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (May 12, 2017)
I'll probably be disappointed, but I'm hoping for the best. With the wealth of remakes and reboots, it's about time we got King Arthur.

AVOIDING

Snatched (May 12, 2017)
Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn as a kidnapped mother and daughter pair. I'll pass.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (May 26, 2017)
Does Johnny Depp need another paycheck? The last couple have been bad. If Keira Knightley isn't back, the writing is on the wall.

Baywatch (May 26, 2017)
An R-rated comedy based on the TV series. It doesn't seem like it will work, but it does have Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and the reboot of 21 Jump Street (2012) was surprisingly good. Still, I can't bet on this.
