Although the latest movies were pretty bad, especially the last one, Saw 3D (which by the way was supposed to end the franchise), I had faith in Jigsaw. I thought seven years could be enough to write something good. Turns out I was wrong.
More than 10 years after Jigsaw's (Tobin Bell) death, bodies are turning up around the city. The police start investigating and guess what, evidence points to one suspect only, John Kramer aka Jigsaw. Meanwhile, a group of five people, Anna (Laura Vandervoort), Ryan (Paul Braunstein), Mitch (Mandela Van Peebles), Carly (Brittany Allen) and a nameless fifth person, are chained to a wall with buckets on their heads and they must play one of Jigsaw's sick games to survive.
It's pretty much the same plot of the previous films, it's still very illogical, stupid and quite difficult to follow, not to mention the many plot holes. It does have a decent twist at the end, but nothing I couldn't have seen coming, and overall it was quite boring.
The plot, unfortunately, isn't the only flaw. The characters aren't that good either. There's nothing special about them, nothing that makes you remember them as soon as you finished the movie. They are one-dimensional idiots, very unlikable even, especially the one who gets to walk away from this mess. The acting at least is decent.

Another problem with this is the traps. This franchise is famous for its visceral and disturbing traps and that's exactly what I was expecting from this. That didn't happen, of course. There are a few decent traps but overall they are pretty forgettable and most of them, you have basically seen them already in the previous movies. And they aren't that shocking/gruesome either.
And the gore. Where was it? This film looked more like a detective/crime-thriller than a gory horror. It wasn't a problem for me because I don't care much about that stuff, but the fans of the genre will very likely be disappointed with this.
