Claire Foy plays Elizabeth II and Matt Smith (Dr. Who) plays Prince Phillip. Netflix has committed to 2 seasons/20 episodes, though the creators have mentioned continuing the show's timeline to the present day.
Michael C. Hall will play JFK in season 2,which will conclude at 1964.
A teaser video released in August with the official trailer releasing on November 6. A Margaret trailer and Phillip trailer followed later in November. Netflix has also release the Evolution of the Crown video and the Season 2 World Premeire video.
While seasons 3 and 4 have not officially been confirmed, it was reported on October 27 that Olivia Colman (Broadchurch, The Night Manager) will play Queen Elizabeth in seasons 3 and 4. Early pre-production has already begun. At this point Foy and Smith are too young to play their roles.
In January The Crown won the best drama Golden Globe with Claire Foy winning best actress.
