In this, Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Akkineni Nagarjuna, Alia Bhatt, Dimple Kapadia, Divyendu Sharma and Mouni Roy will be seen playing the main role. In classical music, music will be composed by Pritam. The song will be written by Amitabh Bhattacharya. It has been declared as a film trilogy. It is being said that the budget of this film can be 150 crores.

Producer Karan Johar through Twitter announced the film on October 11, 2017 and revealed that it will be made in the film trilogy.

Preparation of the film began in January 2018. In an interview, Kapoor revealed that Mukerji "spent six years of his life working really hard to make an original story" and that the trilogy would be made in a span of 10 years. While doing this, it suggested that it could be a romantic movie. Initially, the film's title was rumored to be a dragon, but later it was changed to Brahmastra. Director Ayan Mukherjee said that the title "Brahmastra" is echoed with "ancient wisdom, energy and power". Mukherjee also revealed that it is "contemporary film with ancient elements".

Amitabh Bachchan expressing his experience with the Look Test for the film said that it is a "tiring work", before removing the sticking and reapplying, until something happens. Nagarjuna also confirmed that he will play the "decisive" role. In addition, Mauni said that he is the 'only villain' of the film.

Photography started on February 24, 2018, with the introduction of the first schedule of the film. The first schedule of the film was done in Bulgaria on 24 March 2018. At the same time, the second schedule of the film continued on July 8, 2018 in Bulgaria and then in London. In London, New York and then in Bulgaria, in Edinburgh, Scotland, there is expected to be a widespread start of shooting from February 1, 2019. . In October 2017, the trilogy was officially announced. In which part 1 was planned till August 15, 2019, but later it was extended till Christmas 2019.
