Netflix announces new German language 10 episode series Dark, a mystery family sage, will premiere in late 2017.
Dark takes place in a present day German town where the disappearance of two children exposes the secret, lies, and dysfunctional relationships among four families. A supernatural narrative twist takes the story back to the same town in 1986. The season is ten hour long episodes.
Show runners Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar previously wrote the script for and worked on the acclaimed 2014 film Who Am I - No System is Safe where a young computer hacker joins a subversive group.
They also collaborated on The Silence (2010), based on a novel, where a girl vanishes in the exact place a girl was killed twenty-three years ago.
This is the first German production from Netflix. This series stars Louis Hofmann, Oliver Masucci, Jördis Triebel, Maja Schöne, Sebastian Rudolph, Anatole Taubman, Mark Waschke, Karoline Eichhorn, Stephan Kampwirth, Anne Ratte-Polle, Andreas Pietschmann, Lisa Vicari, Angela Winkler, and Michael Mendl.
