Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017)

This is the fifth movie in the series, and while I was a huge fan of the series, the third film was such a disappointment I've yet to see the fourth. It's been siting in my Netflix queue for years.
We don't see anything jaw dropping. It's ghost pirates and dilapidated ships in perpetual darkness. It's very similar to what we've seen in previous films.
With the lack of Jack Sparrow and any of the original characters, I wondered if this was some kind of spin off. The credits do list Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom, but Keira Knightley apparently didn't return.
It's a misstep to not include at least a few seconds of Depp. I seriously wondered if he was even in it, and not everyone is going to be diligent enough to check the cast list.
The first Pirates made Depp a household name, at this point I have to wonder if it's just a paycheck. There is nothing new to bring to the character. He can only be brought down. The last movie I saw was a disappointment.
I recognized Javier Bardem despite the CGI, and I'm going to guess the kid in the cell is Will Turner's son. It looks like Captain Jack Sparrow has run afoul of yet another undead pirate captain. When will Jack learn?
