2015 EDDA Awards Winners

Iceland's submission to Oscar Vonarstræti (Life in a Fishbowl) swept the Edda Awards yesterday when film got ALL twelve awards where was nominated.  That's what you call a true swept.  The award has 25 categories, so other films also won something including Paris of the North that won 2.

Yesterday the Icelandic Film and Television Academy (IKSA) announced this year nominations with París norðursins (Paris of the North) by Hafsteinn Gunnar Sigurðsson leading the pack with 12 nominations, the film premiered at Karlovy Vary fest and yes, I forgot about it but now is on-top-of-my-mind. Great!

Also leading with 12 nominations Iceland submission to Oscar, Vonarstræti (Life in a Fishbowl) by Baldvin Z.

Awards ceremony will be on Saturday, February 21 and will be broadcast live on Channel 2.  I enjoy Icelandic cinema but have to admit that last year EDDA top award winner was too much for me, had to stop watching; still hope that Paris of the North is more my kind of cinema.  Sigh.
