5th Les Magritte du Cinéma Award Winners

As always the best of the awards ceremony are the film clips, especially from those films I haven't seen as always find one or two that become must be seen.  Have to admit that tonight ceremony was particularly funny, laugh a lot, which is very relaxing.

As I was hoping the Dardenne Brothers got top award for film and directing, I'm very glad as believe honor is extremely well-deserved but also because is the first time they are honored "domestically" (i.e. in Belgium).

Today the Académie André Delvaux announced the nominations for the fifth edition of the awards that honor Belgian francophone cinema and as I was expecting Dardenne brothers master opus Two Days, One night leads the pack with nine (9) nominations followed by Pas son Genre (8), La Marche (6) and Marina (5).

If you wonder why Marion Cotillard does not have a nomination then you have to recall that she is French and this award, as stated in article 2 of the regulations, is open only to Belgium citizens or residents (at least 5 years ).

François Damiens is the president and Charlie Dupont will host the awards ceremony that will take place on Brussels on February 7th. Unfortunately there will not be live streaming and if you wish to watch the awards ceremony you have to wait until TV5 Monde international decides to show it in the following days. Sigh.
