29th Goya Awards Winners

Winners are in *BLUE.

Today Spain's Academia de las Artes y las Ciencias Cinematográficas announced the nominations for the 29th edition of their Goya Awards. Marian Álvarez, Blanca Suárez and Kike Maíllo read the nominations at a press conference in Madrid and surprisingly (at least to me) La Isla Mínima (Marshland) gets 17 nominations followed by El Niño with 16.

According to what I have been reading 2014 was a good year to Spain's cinema, good because made a lot of money; but I believe that the quality of their cinema has suffered too much since 2013 and 2014 reached a new low. Let's hope that 2015 quality cinema increases, while they still make mainstream cinema to make money. Sigh.

To learn nominees in all categories go official site here. The Goya de Honor 2015 goes to Antonio Banderas. Not surprisingly to many readers, the only Spanish film I have seen -worth mentioning- is the one that got Elena Anaya a nomination and is alright, nothing especial beside watching her (lol). We know that Ida should get the Best European Film award but there is another film that is interesting, the one by Felix Herngren with the very long title.

We know that Wild Tales is more easily identify with Argentine than with Spain, but gee there is no comparison between this film and the other four Best Film nominees, so I wonder if the Academy will give the top award to the "best" film or Wild Tales will only get the Best Ibero-american Film award.

The Goya Awards ceremony will be on Saturday, February 7th with Dani Rovira as the host. As every year, TVE will broadcast the ceremony live.
